This is the first time I rode my bike at night in the twisties… on a familiar road of course; where else, San Felipe / Metcalf. I met up with Glenn and JMack and had a halo-halo in Jollibee before we head to our favorite road. I’ve ridden at night on San Felipe road before but with my RX-7 back in the import car days. I was riding pretty hard when a family of deers appeared in the middle of the road. I almost hit them and scared the crap out of me. I like San Felipe road because it’s quiet out there and feels like I’m in a country side although it’s just 10 mins away from my house. I hope they build a small picnic park in that area.

So our ride turned out pretty good, not too slow but just alright. We ended up outside the Metcalf Motorcycle Park. I took some pictures of the bike and we hung around for a while enjoying the clear skies and the cool breeze of air. It’s amazing how the small elevation change makes a big difference in temperature. It’s around 90 degrees just a mile from where we were and it feels like 70 degrees in Metcalf. I can’t believe we hung around in that place for almost two hours. You can’t blame us, it was a gorgeous night and an almost perfect time to ride.

I was riding home from work on 101 and I got stuck in traffic behind a VTA (Santa Clara Valley Transport Authority) public transit bus on lane #1. All of a sudden this bus started spewing black smoke spraying it all over me. My visor was all covered with oil and almost blinding me. My jacket was greased up and my brand new white Duc was also blasted with this nasty oil. Just imagine what my face would look like if I only have a half helmet on. VTA, what the f***!!! Don’t you check your buses regularly. I almost got into an accident because of your carelessness.

It is as important as my helmet. I must have left it in Starbucks’ table. Of course anything you leave in the table goes to the garbage afterwards. I really like that earplug. It’s better than any of the foam ear plugs out there. I know it’s replaceable, but that thing has sentimental value to me

Not too early but early enough to catch the morning mist in the Santa Cruz Mountain. I rode my Ninja today with a friend who has a Ducati 999R. It’s been a long time since I rode my bike in the twisties. I think the last time I did a group ride was before I found out that my wife was pregnant. So we started from Saratoga Ave to Highway 9 all the way to Boulder Creek (just before Big Basin). We then went back and met another buddy at Alice Restaurant that sits in the four corners of Highway 35 (Skyline Blvd) and 84. Our ride ended back to Saratoga Ave. Well, today is Thursday and it’s still a work day for me. The plan was, after the ride I’ll go straight to work at around 10am. Guess what, I lost track of time and got to the office at noon. Sorry Wink, it will never happen again Next time I promise to ride even faster so I can get to work on time

My Church has an ongoing summer fitness event at the Groesbeck Hill Park every Sunday afternoon. It started last week but we didn’t get out of the car because it was windy and cold. But today is the opposite, it’s 92 degrees burning hot outside.

Groesbeck Hill is a great exercise and physical park. It sits on a 26.6 acre land with 9 picnic tables, 1 basketball court, 3 tennis courts, 1 soccer field, a volleyball court and exercise course. The walking/riding trail has two steep paved hills and a dirt hill that crosses the park.

I just did 2 loops and the dirt hill. I gave up, it’s too hot and the bottled water we brought was not enough. I didn’t want to get a heat stroke. But I’ll definitely come back to this park since it’s only 10 minutes away from us.

Wow, what is up with the weather. Just a couple of days ago, you can barely see the sun. Since yesterday, it feels like the summer has begun. Oh well, just enjoy the moment right. Another gorgeous afternoon for a nice bike ride with my wife and daughter. This time, we went to a hilly neighborhood – yes those million dollar houses above us. I can see why people pay that much for their houses, it’s a beautiful view up there. So I got a good work out today. Short hill but pain in the butt to climb. I think my daughter is really enjoying this little afternoon stroll too. We’ll try to do it every afternoon since the daylight is now longer. This is also a good time for family bonding while burning some calories.
