I’ve been eyeing on the Ducati Corse jacket ever since I got my 848. It’s a nice jacket made by Dainese in a Ducati inspired color red, white and black. Last week I test fitted it at the store. It fits like a glove and it has the same feel as the Alpinestars MX-1. The inner liner has long sleeves, which is perfect for riding in cold weather. Other jackets only come with a vest inner liner. This jacket is not cheap though. The tag price is $599 from the Ducati dealer and online stores sell it for more. I saw one the other day selling for $720. I know I got a Ducati bike but it doesn’t mean that I should pay premium for everything that has a Ducati label on it. Today at lunch, I visited the Ducati dealer again to checkout the jacket. The size that I wanted was gone from the rack. One of the guys that work there told me it was already sold. I believe him because this jacket is a popular gear of the Ducatisti. Luckily the guy found another one in stock for me. I don’t care how he found it but as soon as I saw the jacket, I asked him to ring it up for me.

FedEx just delivered my new leather full suit that I bought from BikeBandit. The Teknic Violator runs one size smaller so the size 40US that I usually wear is 42US for this suit. I only had experience with Joe Rocket and Alpinestars so I don’t know what to expect from this one. The video below from SportbikeTrackGear is a crash review of this suit and they gave it a thumbs up. I was gonna buy the suit from them but bikebandit has a special price for $200 less. What I like about this suit, besides the price, is the included race hump. Not to mention that Aaron Yates and Josh Hayes who compete in the AMA Superbike racing wear the same brand. Unlike the other brands, Teknic provides the same consumer suit to their sponsored riders so you can rest assured that you are getting the same armor tested by these guys.

We went for another group ride this afternoon on full leather suits. One of my buddies just bought a new one and had to break it in before our upcoming track days. The problem is, the last time I used mine was about 2 years ago and I’ve gotten much bigger after that. The leather still fits but I almost can’t zip it up… lol. Leather is supposed to stretch but I don’t want my extra baggages to bulge And plus, It seems like my torso has gotten longer too. The crotch area is too tight and it feels like my shoulders are being pulled down. Two options, loose weight or shell out at least a bill for a new leather suit. Well, actually the third option is sell my suit and buy a new one. It’s up on Craigslist right now if you’re interested SOLD!!!

Glenn (Suzuki GSX-R 750), Donn (Ducati 999R), Henry (Kawasaki ZX-6R 636)

So anyway, we rode up to our favorite local track, Hwy 9 to Boulder Creek then back. Glenn had to go home so Donn and I went for our favorite rocky road ice cream at Marianne’s, the best ice cream shop in Santa Cruz. I haven’t ridden my bike on Hwy 17 for years and boy was it fun. I wish one day, they’d shut it down and use it for a race track, hehe.
