Background
Hi, my name is Henry Lubong. I was born on August 7, 1975 in Olongapo City, Philippines and spent my teenage life there. On October of 1994 my whole family migrated to Hawaii. That place was a paradise... awesome weather, nice beaches and hot girls. But sometimes it's hard to enjoy life and have fun when you don't have the dough. So after a year, I decided to move here in California to seek for hotter girls... I mean better job opportunities.
Life
I am happily married to my beautiful wife, Donna. We tied the knot on October 16, 2005 in Vancouver, Canada. You can check out our stories in the website that I created for our wedding. On January 31st, 2008, my wife gave birth to a beautiful and healthy girl, Carmela Angela. She was 6lbs, 4.5oz and 19" in length.
Religion
My whole family and I are active members of the Church of Christ or Iglesia Ni Cristo. My late grandfather was a minister in the Church during Bro. Felix Manalo's era. Today, I have three uncles and two cousins that are in the Ministry. Most of my relatives are also officers in the Church. I've been holding offices in the Church ever since I was little. I was a choir member, a teacher, and held different offices in the Christian Family Organization. I and my family are currently registered in the Locale of San Jose, District of Northern California.
Education
My high school alma mater is Olongapo Wesley School. I was a topnotcher and won the school championship competetion in Math. I was designated best in Math but it was never awarded to me formally (some school politics issue). After I graduated in high school, I took my Associate degree in Computer Technician. I felt like it wasn't enough to make it a career so I went to Manila to take entrance examination in several universities. My heart really belongs to Mapua so I ended up going to that school. Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT) is a reputable college and is known to be the best Engineering school in the Philippines. Too bad I wasn't able to graduate because our papers to migrate in the United States was approved and we had to fly out asap. When I arrived here in the States, it took me 5 years before I had a chance to go back to school again. I went to Devry and De Anza College for a while and finally to National University in San Jose for my BS in Computer Science. I was working on days and go to school at nights. When the dot-com bubble burst in 2001, I was one of the unlucky ones that loss a job and I had to drop out from school due to financial difficulties. It's never too late to go back to college -- maybe one of these days...
Career
My career started in IT as a computer technicain but I shifted gear and found my way out to become a web developer. My experience in web development started back in 1996. I've worked for a few Fortune 500 companies in the past such as EA, Genentech, Intel, Quantum, Siebel, Yahoo! and some startup companies.
I am currently working at Yahoo! as a Web Application Engineer for Small Business group. Oooopss, erase that... on Friday the 13th of October, 2006, I left the big Y! after almost two years of doing fun and exciting work for them. You can read more about the interesting story of my resignation in my blog.
I am now working as a Software Engineer (web focus) for Wink, a People Search Engine company located in Los Altos, CA. Recently, we were acquired by a Los Angeles company called MyLife.com (formerly Reunion.com) but we have our satellite office here in NorCal.
Hobbies & Toys
What else, cars, gokarts and motorcycles. I am a fanatic and I can talk all day long about sportbikes, cars, races and related stuff. I am proud to be driving and riding fun vehicles. My rides are BMW Z3, Ducati 848 (my ultimate weapon) and Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 (my track bike). They are not the fastest and greatest but still a blast to ride specially on the twisties. I really wish to own a very nice exotic car. When I become financially capable, I will buy a Ferrari F430 Spider or a Porsche 911 Turbo would do just fine.
Besides being a piston head, I also enjoy other sports like basketball, biking (I own an Specialized Allez road bike and a Motobecane Fantom Elite mountain bike) and snowboarding (will switch to skiing next season). When it's warmer outside I also go camping and picnic with friends.
