Widget is cool, but it’s not supports UTF8 encoding.

Hi,

I like this widget, but I’m twittering in German and it seem’s there’s a problem with character encoding:

TwittY shows “GlÃ¼cklichen”, but should show “Glücklichen”. It seems, TwittY shows tweets in UTF-8 in Windows-1252. Do you think, that there’s a workaround?

Hi Henry,

This is a great widget: looks good, works like a charm.
I have only 2 requests:
1) use secure connection to sign in, and
2) Allow i18n support. In particular, Arabic/Hebrew/Asian fonts.

Is there any way to @ reply to someone directly from the home window in TwittY? I’m having to type in @username each time in the update status window. Maybe I’m missing something somewhere…

Hi Amaar, I’m glad to know that you are using the widget. The polling interval is currently set to 3 minutes. In my next update, I will include the option for the users to change the polling interval.

Hi,

I’ve been using this for a couple of days now. It’s pretty complete in terms of features for my uses, but I’d like to know how often it’s polling the Twitter servers and whether you’re using POST requests or not.

It seems to be refreshing every minute. However, according to Twitter’s API documentation (see: http://apiwiki.twitter.com/REST-API-Documentation#RateLimiting) only 100 requests per hour are allowed. I have this widget installed on both my desktop and laptop and often have them both running from the same IP so you can the dilemma I face.
