Netflix On Tivo

I’ve been a fan of Tivo since day 1 and any new features they throw in their boxes, I always have to try them myself. Recently, they announced a partnership with Netflix, which is I’m also a fan of, but last year I had to ditched them for Blockbuster. I could say I’m pretty happy with Blockbuster’s service and title selections. I really enjoy their in-store exchange feature. Imagine, for my 3-at-a-time account, I can actually watch a total of six movies when I return them at the store. Then Netflix on Tivo became available and it’s worth to get re-acquainted with Netflix.

Netflix on Tivo became available on December 8 and are already receiving a lot of positive reviews. It is a video-on-demand  which is similar to Amazon Unbox. Basically, Tivo connects to Netflix and stream videos to the tivo box and to your tv. While Amazon charges per movie, videos instantly played from Netflix on the other hand are part of the monthly service. Not to mention, that the streaming video from Netflix is supposed to be in HD quality (720p) as opposed to DVD quality (480p). To me, that’s a significant feature specially when you’re home theater system at home is already setup for HD viewing. Why wait for a DVD to arrive in your mailbox if you can just do a couple of clicks on your PC and watch a movie instantly.

I think this is something that I will enjoy and may turn me to a Netflix loyal customer again. I already put my Blockbuster account on hold and I have three months to try this Netflix Video-On-Demand before I say bye-bye to Blockbuster.
