Carmela’s Offering In The Church
My daughter was offered today in the morning worship service in San Jose. This is the same as Christening a baby if you are a Christian. We are a member of the Chruch of Christ (Iglesia Ni Cristo in filipino) and we don’t do infant baptism in the Church. According to the bible, baptism is only for people who are capable to understand the words of God and believe. Hence, babies are offered through the means of prayer, which is what Christ did to the small children in Mark 10:13-16:
13 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
This is a wonderful day for all of us. The rain was pouring hard though. The old saying says rain brings good luck
The harder it pours, the more blessings we will receive. Heck, if this is true, I should have asked for a hurricane.
Since this is an important day for my daughter, we’ve setup a small celebration at my house and invited some of our close friends. Thanks to those who joined us inspite of the bad weather. The nice part was, during the party, the rain stopped. Thank god it did because we had a lot of people in our house and some had to stay outside. Right after everyone left, which is around 5:30, it started to rain again.
Of course, I took some pictures. You know where to find them right… alright, here’s the link – http://flickr.com/photos/speedster/sets/72157603995436346/.
